November 2024:

Class Dismissed: The Plan to Eliminate the Department of Education

With the re-election of President Donald Trump and the looming impacts of Project 2025, we wanted to take the time to highlight one highly discussed aspect: the elimination of the Department of Education. While this is not a new concept and has been discussed since its creation in 1979, talks have been more frequent and intensified with the release of the Project 2025 plan. This impacts students, teachers, government workers, colleges, public schools, and more. The elimination of the Department of Education would cause catastrophic disruptions in our educational communities and systems. It is true that eliminating a federal department is no easy task, however, that should not change the seriousness of how we handle these plans and discussions. This newsletter provides an overview of what the Department of Education does, the current plans regarding the department, a call to action, and some important contact information to make our voices heard.
